Brunchit + Down Málaga: This is how we're uniting for job inclusion.

At Brunchit, something that fulfills us is strengthening ties with causes and organizations that seek to change the world, and even more so when they do so from our beloved city of Málaga, where we started as a project and will soon have five restaurants. That's why we were thrilled when we met Down Málaga, an incredible team whose ultimate goal is to break the stigma and walk hand in hand with girls and boys with Down syndrome. Their mission moved us deeply, so we quickly got to work to make our partnership a reality.

Today, as we commemorate International Down Syndrome Day, we want to tell you the story of how we work together, what we do, and the wonders we've discovered by being part of this project, which is now also a bit of ours. Let's get to it!

They are our friends from Down Málaga

Down Málaga has a history spanning almost three decades. It began as an initiative of mothers and fathers to defend the rights and support the unhindered and undiscriminating development of girls and boys with Down syndrome in Málaga.

Today, Down Málaga is a robust organization with clear goals, dedicated to the full social and labor inclusion of people with Down syndrome, providing conciliation, educational, and psychological care services, among others.

Their alliances with businesses and other organizations in the city are also central, and this is where we come in. This helps them reach their goals far and wide. You can always get anywhere better with good company! That's why Down Málaga is seeking partners for specialized training and internship programs in various trades. This way, every person with Down syndrome can develop their potential in a real-world work environment.

Access to the labor market for people with disabilities remains a challenge. “Access to employment is key to the independence and personal development of our young people. The hospitality industry is a sector full of opportunities, and having companies like Brunchit, which are truly committed to inclusion, makes a difference. This program is not only giving them work experience, but also confidence in themselves and their abilities,” says Gracia Casado, representative of Down Málaga.

At Brunchit this is already our cause

Our restaurants in Malaga currently have a group of girls with Down syndrome doing internships to gain experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. This makes us very happy, enriches our daily work, and we see it as a very valuable exchange of experiences.

Brunchit was born with the conviction that gastronomy is not only a business, but also an opportunity to connect with people. Therefore, the company has integrated diversity and inclusion into its corporate culture, investing in projects like this one that promote real and equitable access to the labor market.

«From day one, the girls have demonstrated their talent, their eagerness to learn, and their ability to contribute to the team. For us, this collaboration with Málaga Down is not just a training program, but a real commitment to inclusion. It’s not just about providing opportunities, but about ensuring they are real opportunities,” she explains. Lydia Nieto, founder of Brunchit.

This initiative builds on the brand's long-standing relationship with the Red Cross, with whom it collaborates on various job placement programs and support for vulnerable groups.

«We know there’s still a lot to do, but every step counts. Inclusion isn’t just a value we champion; it’s something we put into practice every day in our restaurants. We want this program to continue growing and for more young people to have the opportunity to join the team,” he concludes. Lydia Nieto.
